The Windows of St. Thomas of the Valley
St. Thomas has ten lovely stained glass windows which beautify our church. Below is a brief description of each of them so that you may share their beauty and significance with us.

Our three round windows have the interlocking theme of the "Gifts of God for the People of God," a theme that has deep significance to our congregation.
Springs
of Living Water - "See! The streams of living water, springing
forth from eternal love." (Hymn 522) We live in a near-desert here in
Clarkdale, but we
are blessed with "springs of living water" that literally burst forth
from the walls of our canyons, as depicted in the design of this window.
In a desert, water is
the most precious of commodities and we could not live here without that spring-fed water.
Similarly, Jesus is the most precious source of
"living water" - of life fulfilled for all Christians. As Deuteronomy
8:7 says; "For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of
brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and
hills." This window is at the back of our nave.
The
Light of Life - The Verde Valley is blessed, throughout the year,
with an abundance of sun light during the day and bright moonlight at night
. This blessing brings to mind "the sun and the moon which thou hast
ordained," the biblical creation story of Genesis, and the role God has
played in the formation of our universe--upon which all life depends. In
this window, images of the sun and moon stand in awe of and respect for the
light of the world, Jesus the Christ, as represented by His Cross. This
window is in our Vicar's office.
Life
in Abundance - All forms of life thrive in the Verde Valley.
The abundance of life here is represented by flowers in this window, since
flowers are perhaps the most beautiful of God's living creations. We are
reminded that with this God-given beauty comes the promise of God's love
and "life renewed" through our Savior, Jesus. This window
is in our church office.
The six rectangular memorial windows below adorn the side walls of our nave.

The two windows below, the IHS and PAX panels are behind the altar.
These windows
and the cross between them which grace the wall behind our altar were part of the original
1917 church building. Their continued presence helps to create an
important and visible link
with our parish history and with all the saints who have gone before us.
These windows were given in memory of Alvin James Gable.
